As we come to the end of summer and the light begins to fade I can always feel a sense of loss, the long sunny skies are shorter and mornings are darker. It can affect our mood and as someone that is affected by light levels and who loves the sun so much we can easily lose our motivation and feel lower than in previous months. It's important to keep up with our exercise and pay attention to nutrition more than ever as these long months are in front of us all now.
But this is the ideal time to start making plans and the chance to do things restricted to the winter months, fires in darkened rooms, candles that give that lovely orange glow, cosy warm blankets and a period to reflect on the months passed. Some animals naturally slow down to hibernate and actively prepare for winter and I think this is something humans have lost in our 24 hr society. The chance to reset and rest in whatever ways we can.
Walk and Talk therapy can often be a challenge in these months but it can also be a unique opportunity to embrace the weather and all that nature has to offer, its colours, sounds and smells are all in contrast from the summer. Clients are always happy they've embraced the fresh air rather than sitting in a therapy room, nature is always uplifting and nourishing to the soul. Try a session today 💗
